About This Quote

The most powerful men are not those who are most knowledgeable, but are those who know the least about the subjects they are responsible for. This quote is attributed to Mahatma Gandhi, who became a very powerful political leader in his native India. He was also known as one of the most influential figures in 20th century history. Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, India.

He was the eldest son of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and his wife, Putlibai. At age 3, he began attending a local school and at the age of 5 began taking part in religious rituals. The first major event in his life was when he was forced to leave school because his father wanted him to be a lawyer.

At age 14, he moved to Bombay and became a teacher and then a lawyer at age 22. He gained many followers and became Chief Minister of Bombay state at age 30. He was considered one of the greatest leaders in modern India and wrote many books and articles on political theory and governance which were published throughout his lifetime.
